Stepan Fedorovich Kolesnikov was born in Andrianopol in the Ekaterinoslav province of Ukraine, Kolesnikov in 1879. He studied at the Odessa Art College from 1897 or 1899 until 1903 and at St. Petersburg Art Academy in 1903-1909 in the studio of A. Kiselev. Upon graduation receive the title of painter and a grant to travel abroad. Participant of the Spring exhibitions at the Art Academy and Union of Southern Russian artists. In 1920 moved to Serbia where he became a professor at Belgrade Art Academy. The artist died in 1955.
