Kazimir Yasevich was born in Vilnius province in 1813. In 1833 the artist entered the St. Petersburg Art Academy where he studied until 1836. Upon graduation he received the title of ‘free artist’. In 1859 the artist received the title of Academician for his portrait of count Osten-Saken. Yaserich taught art at various high schools in St. Petersburg, did appraisal and restoration of old works of art and painted icons for monasteries and churches. The artist died in 1888.
