Nikolai Gribkov was devoted his artistic career to the development of the traditions of Russian genre painting, for which he gained a wide public recognition. In 1860-1871 he studied in the Moscow Art School under V. Perov. In 1863 he received a certificate of honor from the Council of Moscow Art Society for his achievements. In 1871 Gribkov received a small-silver medal for the painting Cooking Beef in Aspic and great-silver medal for his composition Children and Mouse. Works by Gribkov from the collection of Moscow Art School were tragically lost in 1918.
