Alisa Ivanovna Poret was born in St. Petersburg in 1902. Studied at Drawing School of OPKh; Petrograd Academy of Arts in the studio of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin in 1923-1925. In 1926 Poret began her studies with Pavel Filonov and was influenced by Filonov’s “Analytical Art”. Between 1929 and 1931 Poret illustrated children’s books for the Detgiz publishing house. In 1932, the artist contributed illustrations for the Finnish epic Kalevala (Academia, 1933). Active in Petrograd. Member of Krug from 1926; Masters of Analytical Art. Also a graphic artist. Died in Moscow in 1984.
