Самюель (Хаїм) ГРАНОВСЬКИЙ • Самюэль (Хаим) ГРАНОВСКИЙ

Born in Ekaterinoslav (today Dniepropetrovsk) in 1889. Painter and sculptor. Studied at Odessa Art College. Since 1910 lived in Paris where he was active in the circle of Montparnasse artists. In the early 1920’s was active with a group Through “Cherez” and Russian Artists Union of France. In 1923 along with Sonia Delaunay and V. Bart designed a dada play “Arial heart” by T. Tzara. Participated in a group exhibit of Russian artists in London (Whitechapel, 1921) and Paris’s café La Rotonde in 1925. Exhibited at Zak gallery in 1936. In 1942 was arrested and executed by Nazis in concentration camp in 1942.
