Ilya Nikolaevich Zankovsky was born in 1843. Studied at Imperial Academy of Arts in 1862-1863. Active in Tiflis, Georgia. Began exhibiting no later than 1888. Exhibited with Society of Russian Watercolourists. Taught at art school of the Caucasian Society for Encouragement of the Fine Arts, Tiflis, late 1880s-1910s. Died in 1917.
