Studied at Imperial Academy of Arts as non-enrolled student in 1855-1863; awarded rank ‘classed artist, first degree’ in 1868. Active in St. Petersburg. Began exhibiting in 1860. Exhibited with Itinerants in 1888. Specialized in social genre pictures. Taught at Drawing School fo OPKh in 1866, 1871-1872. Became an academician in 1871. One of the thirteen painting students who quit the Academy in 1863; founder member of the Artel of artists subsequently. Died in St. Petersburg in 1901. |
