Ilya Mashkov was born in the Cossack village of Mikhailovskaya-on-Don. He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in the studios of K. Korovin and V. Serov (1900-1909). Mashkov traveled to France, Germany, Austria, England, Spain and Italy in 1908. Member of the “Jack of Diamond” group since 1910, “World of Art” since 1916, Society of Moscow Artists (1927-1928) and Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia since 1924. Mashkov was influenced by Cezanne and cubism and primarily painted still life, landscapes and portraits paintings. The artist died in Moscow in 1944.
